Sandy Bay Harrier Club > Safeguarding

Our statement of commitment

Sandy Bay Harriers Athletics Club (Our Club) is committed to the safety of children and young people who engage with our sport.

Through our affiliation with Athletics Australia, we have signed up to the National Integrity Framework, which includes a robust Child Safeguarding Policy.  Our Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we believe that every child should feel safe, supported, and comfortable to express their identity and personality.

All children, regardless of their gender, race, religious beliefs, age, disability, sexual
orientation, or family or social background, have equal rights to protection from abuse.

Our Club is committed to the safety of all children, including the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, those from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and children with disabilities.

Our Club has legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are concerned
about a child’s or young person’s safety, which we will follow rigorously.

Together we can provide an environment in which children feel respected, valued and
encouraged to reach their full potential.
